The case for support

Millions of neighbors, one wild backyard

Six million people live within an hour of the Everglades and Big Cypress, yet most have never set a tire or a boot on the public lands they own. The barriers are real: nobody to go with, nowhere to learn, and a fear of getting it wrong.

We remove all three. Free education lowers the knowledge barrier. Guided group rides remove the safety barrier. And a welcoming community removes the hardest barrier of all: walking in alone. The result is more families outdoors, and more advocates for the wild places that need them.

Programs ready for investment

Program 01

Trail Academy education

Free video curriculum and in-person workshops covering trail safety, vehicle recovery, radio communications and wilderness preparedness. Funding expands production and adds bilingual content for our Spanish-speaking majority region.

Program 02

Guided community rides

Free, size-capped meetups that give first-timers a safe on-ramp to public lands. Funding covers permits, group safety equipment, radios for loaner use and recovery gear.

Program 03

Conservation stewardship

Tread-lightly education, wildlife-safety outreach and route documentation that concentrates use on legal trails. Funding supports trail condition reporting and cleanup events on the lands we ride.

Program 04

Youth and family outreach

Kids activities at every family meetup, school and club presentations, and partnerships that introduce young South Floridians to careers and hobbies in the outdoors.

A grassroots partner with proof of work

Our track record is public and verifiable: nearly 100 published educational videos, documented group rides across seven public land units, active partnerships with radio clubs and rescue organizations, and fundraising campaigns run for established charities including Global Empowerment Mission and the LA6 Foundation.

Common questions

What would our funding actually pay for?

Direct program costs: camp and permit fees for community events, safety and loaner radio equipment, video production for the free curriculum, printed safety materials, and insurance for larger public events. We will scope a budget to your funding priorities.

What is your organizational status?

SOFLO Overlander operates today as a community initiative alongside the South Florida Overlanders community. For grants requiring a tax-exempt recipient, we can discuss fiscal sponsorship arrangements or direct funding of a specific program deliverable. Ask us and we will find the structure that works.

How do you measure impact?

Ride attendance and first-timer counts, educational reach (views, watch time, subscribers), event registrations, and partner testimonials. Every funded program ships with a reporting plan agreed up front.

Doesn't off-roading hurt the environment?

Unmanaged off-roading can. That is exactly why we exist. Every program teaches tread-lightly ethics, keeps vehicles on designated legal routes, caps group sizes and builds a culture where conservation is the point of the trip, not an afterthought. Educated recreation is the alternative to the damage done by the uneducated kind.

Can we visit a program before funding?

Please do. Join any meetup as our guest, ride along in a crew vehicle and talk to the families who show up. The program sells itself at the campfire.
