Our story
A passion project that became a movement
SOFLO Overlander was started by James Fernandez with a simple goal: inspire people to get outdoors and experience adventure travel. What began as one truck, a camera and a love for Florida's back country grew into a community that rides, learns and serves together.
How it happened
From driveway to backcountry
One rig and a camera
James started documenting solo trips into the Everglades and Big Cypress, sharing what he learned about routes, gear and safety. The videos found people who had always wanted to explore Florida but did not know where to begin.
South Florida Overlanders
Solo trips turned into group rides with the South Florida Overlanders crew and friends from GP Overlanding, Soul Road FL, Miami Overland and Boss Overlanding. The rule from day one: we go in together, we all come out together.
Documenting the SOFAT
When the South Florida Adventure Trail added roughly 1,000 miles to Florida's adventure route network, our crew began running and filming it section by section, from the Tamiami Trail to Florida City, so others could follow safely and legally.
Education, expeditions and service
Nearly 100 free videos, regular meetups across South Florida's public lands, multi-state expeditions like the Georgia Traverse, and community service from disaster-relief fundraising to K9 rescue support. And we are just getting started.
What we believe
The code of the trail
Never wheel alone
Every situation has lessons. Being prepared, knowing your capabilities and surrounding yourself with the right people is how you weather the storm.
Leave it wilder than you found it
Pack out more than you pack in. Stay on legal routes. Respect wildlife from a distance, especially the ones with teeth.
Everyone starts somewhere
You do not need a built rig to belong here. Stock vehicles, first-timers and families are the heart of this community, not the exception.
Adventure with purpose
The overlanding community is about more than adventure. It is compassion, service and helping others when they need it most.

Come find your trail family
Come for the day, stay for the weekend. Everyone is welcome at our next meetup.
